Imagineland is a multi-themed play center that engages children in a miniature emotional intelligence activity before being unleashed into the fun-filled playroom. Imagineland opened its doors with the new modern pop up theme in a DPR (Department of Parks and Recreation) site, Columbia Heights Community Center at 1480 Girard St. NW, Washington DC 20009 on the 1st floor.

Imagineland will keep its doors open every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm this Spring up until June 16th, 2018 and will emerge again this Fall in a new and/or multiple locations.

This new play center has a very distinctive goal in mind, and that is to bridge the gap between education, recreation, and health. Imagineland’s goals are met by encouraging parents to engage in the short emotional intelligence activities with children which fosters bonding as children learn about themselves. Completed activities can be taken home for reinforcement.

Likewise, emotional intelligence has been found to be just as vital as one’s IQ as it teaches children to be aware of, manage and regulate one’s emotions. Activities taught focus on building skills such as problem-solving, responsibility, empathy etc., and all encompass the theme of assisting to empower the child. Moreover, strong emotional intelligence skills have been linked to increased health outcomes both mentally and physically.

Most importantly, Imagineland Playcenter is focused on what children do best, Play! They will have so much fun they won’t even realize that they have equally learned an important skill too!
