Morris Bart, LLC Awards $2,500 to Incoming Quinnipiac University Student
NEW ORLEANS, LA, August 22, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Morris Bart, LLC has offered its Community Service Scholarship to students since the 2020 school year. This year, the firm is pleased to announce that it will award Emily Meyer $2,500 in financial support. Meyer’s “What is the meaning of service?” essay stood out for both the quality of her essay and her commitment to community service.
Students applying for the 2023 Community Service Scholarship were expected to submit a 750-word essay, have a GPA of 3.0 or above, be enrolled or accepted to attend college, and have a history of community service, volunteerism, or fundraising.
Meyer’s winning essay describes her journey from a four-year-old patient receiving new toys in the Child Life department one Christmas night to donating over 20,000 toys to hospitals and children’s organizations through “Emily’s Awesome Toy Drive” as an 18-year-old.
In that time, she started her own a 501c3 nonprofit, The Emily Meyer Foundation, that caters to children who are ill, have special needs, or are dealing with emergency housing situations due to homelessness or displacement. When discussing her application for this scholarship, Meyer credited her grandpa for helping her get started. A year after her medical emergency, they both collected new toys from friends and family to donate to the same Child Life department that had helped her.
At five years old, Emily remembered the joy she felt when she received toys during her stay there and wanted to pay it forward. Overall, the applicant succinctly captured the message Morris Bart, LLC wants to share with the world. The firm is proud to support her continued academic success.
As of Fall 2023, Meyer is attending Quinnipiac University. She intends to pursue a degree in Communications, specifically Public Relations. Meyer is set to graduate in 2027. She is the fourth student to receive the Community Service Scholarship from Morris Bart, LLC. She joins previous winners Amber Dillenkoffer, Na’Lani Zeno, and Brooke Butler.
